Life Science:

Test tomorrow on Immunity and Disease.  You will work on a study guide today in class.  This will be IN 28.  You will be able to use the foldable you created in class yesterday on the test.  Use IN pages 24, 25 and 27 to study.

IMPORTANT:

Camp McDowell Field trip parent meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 in the PIKE cafetorium.  A representative from Camp McDowell will meet with us.  Students will receive a packet of forms next week to be completed before attending Camp McDowell.  These can be turned in at the parent meeting.

We will have a notebook check Tuesday of next week.


Biology

Science Fair Materials list and procedure due tomorrow.

Jan 20-23

Life Science

We will continue with the Ch. 13 and the circulatory system this week.  Be sure to be here Thursday.  We will dissect a sheep heart.  Test on the circulatory system will be Friday.

Biology

Today we will do a Paper DNA/RNA lab in class and finish it in class tomorrow.  You have a 20 question test on DNA and RNA Wednesday.  You will get a study guide in class today.  Thursday you will watch the video:  Cracking the Code of Life and Friday you will extract DNA from a strawberry.

Remember, that your research and bibliography for your science fair project is due Monday, Jan. 26.

Anatomy

Bodies...The Exhibition field trip is Feb.  11.  Money is due Jan. 28.

We will do a reaction rate/distraction lab Tuesday.  Limericks, tongue twisters and songs are due Wednesday.  You will have a notebook check on Wednesday and Thursday.  Test on the Nervous System Thursday.  We will begin special senses Friday.

Forensic Science

Tuesday you will extract your own DNA from a cheek cell.  You will need to complete for homework pages 14, 15, 16 and 17 in your notebook.  Go to pbslearningmedia.com and search for DNA fingerprinting. You will find the resources you need to complete these pages.  Due Thursday.

Test on DNA Friday along with a notebook check.

Life Science:
We are beginning a new unit on the systems of the human body.  We will begin with the circulatory and immune systems.  Ch 13 Sections one and two will be our focus this week.

Wednesday:  Test on Punnett Squares and Mendel.
Thursday:  Ch. 11.1 DNA and DNA replication notes
Friday:  Ch. 11 DNA and Protein synthesis notes.

Anatomy
This week we will continue with our study of the nervous system.
Tuesday we will begin our Swim Cap Nervous System Lab.  You will need to bring 2 dollars to pay for your swim cap and colored markers.
Wednesday we will dissect sheep brains.
Thursday we will finish the nervous system notes and work on limericks, bumper stickers and tongue twisters.
Friday we will view Bill Nye:  The BRain and complete and activity on Brain Hemisphere Dominance.
You have a clinical diganosis due On Jan. 20.

Forensics
This week is all about DNA evidence.  Bring your laptops Tuesday-Thursday.
